Skill Assessments

**PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE REGISTERED FOR THE SEASON BEFORE YOU SIGN UP FOR A PLAYER EVALUATION SPOT**

So, my son/daughter is registered. Now what?

For players in T-Ball and Coach Pitch - We will create your teams and assign managers after registration closes for those divisions. Please be patient, once this task is complete you will receive a call from your team manager. You can expect contact during the second week of February. You will not go through Skill Assessments.

All levels above Rookie/Tee Ball will require players to attend player evaluations. Continue reading below and sign up for your appropriate evaluation slot.

Please assure your son or daughter there is no "failing" in the Skill Assessments. We use Skill Assessments to evaluate the best level of play for your child so they are playing with players with similar abilities and similar age. Since an assessment can be more nerve-racking for parents than the Little League, here’s some info to ease you through the process.

To get ready for the Skill Assessment, we certainly encourage you to play catch with them in the days leading up to it. On the day of the assessment, it is probably a good idea to throw the ball with them to get their arms loose prior to coming. At the assessment, we will have bats and helmets available for players to use during their tryout. Players should bring their own baseball glove.

Players that were not registered in Majors baseball or softball for Spring 2022 will have to go through the draft process.  To support the draft process, team managers will evaluate each player's basic skills by watching them "tryout" in a set of skill activities.

The assessment will involve five basic skills:

  • Throwing
  • Catching
  • Fielding
  • Running
  • Hitting

Once Skill Assessments are complete, the drafts will be held for team selections. The Majors draft will be held prior to the Minors draft and the following should be noted:

All returning players who played at the Major division last spring will remain on the same Majors team unless a request for release has been requested and approved.

All league age 12-year olds will be selected to a Major team unless a waiver is applied for and approved.

Remaining 9-10-11-year-olds are available to be drafted to a Major team until the teams are full.

Players not drafted to a Major team are put into the Minor draft pool to be selected in that draft.

We hope this helps you better understand the Little League tryout process.  We look forward to seeing you at tryouts.  If you have any questions not answered here, please send an email to our Player Agent, Reggie Fountain at [email protected]
