Bulverde LL Cancels 2020 Spring Season

Dear Parents and Coaches,

For the last several months, the Bulverde Little League Board of Directors has been working on trying to put plans together to have a Little League Spring 2020 Season.  We have been discussing and exploring different ways to safely carry out the season.  Recently, Little League International published additional guidelines and recommendations for resuming league activities.  If you would like to see the recommendations presented please follow these links to:

We met as a board last night to discuss the possibility of proceeding with the season based on these adjustments. Please know the biggest priority is the health and safety of our community and league which includes our players, parents, coaches, umpires and league volunteers.  Given the significant additional guidelines, resuming the season would be a monumental task and a huge responsibility would fall on all volunteers, coaches, and parents.  The recommendations would also significantly change how the kids have played in the past.  Ultimately, this massive risk falls on our league itself.  It is because of this risk and the proposed changes that the Board of Directors voted to cancel the 2020 Spring Season. As President of Bulverde Little League, I am very sorry for any pain, frustration or sadness this announcement will cause all the players.

As a non-profit organization, this pandemic has affected our league financially and our ability to further develop our facilities.   As with every year, registration fees help us cover our spring season startup fees and help us to plan future improvements. Our monthly expenses have not ended either, as our maintenance costs continue for the facility.

Based on this, I am asking all of you to consider taking this as a tax deduction. Since we are a 501(c)(3) organization, your registration fee is deductible on your tax return. This option provides the most value for you and also for the financial well-being of our league. Your financial donation will help ensure the league can continue moving forward. For those of you who have already donated money to our league, we greatly appreciate your generosity and support. We would welcome any new donations to help our community.

If you do not wish to donate your child’s registration fee that is fine, we are also offering a refund (minus the cost of uniform) or a credit for the Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 season.  Please go to http://www.bllinfo.com to complete your child’s request for how we should process your registration fees.

I want to thank the Board for all of the work and time you put into the league.  Volunteering for this organization is not an easy task when coupled with managing your own jobs, family and personal lives. It is because of your leadership that our league continues to grow and has a bright future.

The Board also wants to thank all of the families in our BLL community.  Please understand this decision was not made lightly.

Plans for fall ball are around the corner and will be dependent on how this pandemic continues through the summer months. We are positive we will be back stronger than ever. We hope and wish for all of you to remain healthy.

Thank you again for your patience, cooperation and understanding.

Respectfully,

Adam Boland

Bulverde Little League President
