WHAT DIVISION SHOULD YOU REGISTER YOUR CHILD IN?

Below are brief descriptions and requirements for each division offered at Bulverde Little League. If you have additional questions please email: bulverdellplayeragent@gmail.com

 

WHAT IS MY CHILD'S "LEAGUE AGE"?

"League age is determined by the age charts provided by Little League International. Players are eligible to play in any division in which they meet the age minimum.

Beginner Tee Ball:

Tee-ball division is for boys and girls league ages 4–5 WITH or WITHOUT a season of Tee Ball experience. Tee Ball is the Introduction to baseball with an emphasis on beginner skills development mixed with fun. There are no scores or standings kept for this division. There are no tryouts for this division; teams will be assigned by the league’s Player Agent. Personal requests to play with friends, etc. may be honored at this level.

Rookie League:

Rookie League division is for boys and girls league ages 6-7 WITH a season of Tee Ball experience. Rookie Ball will introduce coach pitching with an emphasis on basic skills development and preparing kids to move to the next level. No scores or standings will be kept, basic baseball rules will be emphasized and mandatory infield/outfield requirements will be enforced. There are no tryouts for this division; teams will be assigned by the league’s Player Agent. Personal requests to play with friends, etc. may be honored at this level.

Machine Pitch Baseball:

Machine Pitch Baseball division is for boys league age 7-8, players league age 6 will be eligible WITH a season of Tee Ball or Rookie League experience with the approval of the Player Agent may register for this division. Machine Pitch introduces an automated machine to pitch to batters and will place an emphasis position player development and continued development of the basic skills. Scores and standings are kept. Tryouts are required for this division. Personal requests to play with friends, car pools, etc. will not be honored at this level as teams are selected via a draft process.

Coach Pitch Softball:

Coach Pitch Softball division is for girls league age 6-8. Coach Pitch introduces an adult volunteer pitching to batters and will place an emphasis position player development and continued development of the basic skills. Scores and standings are kept. Tryouts are required for this division. Personal requests to play with friends, car pools, etc. will not be honored at this level as teams are selected via a draft process.

Minors Baseball:

The Minor League Baseball division is for boys ages 8–11, players who are not drafted into the Minors Division will be eligible to be drafted into the Machine Pitch Division. The Minors Division is the introduction to player pitching with a continued emphasis on player development. Scores and standings are kept. Tryouts are required for this division and players are placed on teams via a draft process. Personal requests to play with friends, carpools, etc. will not be honored at this level.

Majors Baseball:

The Little League Baseball Division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for boys ages 9–12, players 11 and under that tryout and are not selected for this division will be drafted into the Minors Division. Scores and standings are kept. This Division plays by regulation Little League rules and would be considered the most competitive division for the eligible age group. Tryouts are required for this division and players are placed on teams via a draft process. Personal requests to play with friends, carpools, etc. will not be honored at this level.

Majors Softball:

The Little League Softball Division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for girls ages 9–12, players 11 and under that tryout and are not selected for this division will be drafted into the Minors Division. Scores and standings are kept. This Division plays by regulation Little League rules and would be considered the most competitive division for the eligible age group. Tryouts are required for this division and players are placed on teams via a draft process. Personal requests to play with friends, carpools, etc. will not be honored at this level.

Intermediate (50/70) Baseball:

The Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division was introduced in January, 2010, as a pilot program for 12- and 13-year-olds which utilizes a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths. The division, which was new division of Little League Baseball in 2013 for players league-age 11-13 with postseason tournament opportunities, including a World Series, offers a transition for players between the standard Little League field size (46-foot pitching distance and 60-foot base paths) and the Junior/Senior/Big League field size (60-foot, 6-inch pitching distance and 90-foot base paths). Tryouts are required for this division and players are placed on teams via a draft process. Personal requests to play with friends, carpools, etc. will not be honored at this level.

Juniors Baseball:

The Junior League Baseball Division is a program for boys ages 13–14, using a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet 6 inches. Scores and standings are kept. Tryouts could be required for this division and players could be placed on teams via the draft process depending on the enrollment numbers for a particular season. This division typically starts later than the younger divisions.

Juniors Softball:

The Junior League Softball Division is a program for girls ages 13–14. Scores and standings are kept. Tryouts could be required for this division and players could be placed on teams via the draft process depending on the enrollment numbers for a particular season. This division typically starts later than the younger divisions.

Rookie League 6-7 years old 

The Rookie League division is for boys and girls ages 6-7 WITH a season of Tee Ball experience. Players league age 7 without a season of tee ball  are eligible with approval of the Player Agent, (bulverdellplayeragent@gmail.com).

Rookie Ball will introduce coach pitching with an emphasis on basic skills development. No scores or standings will be kept. Mandatory Infield/Outfield requirements will be enforced. IMPORTANT NOTE: 

A player will be deemed to attend school in the boundaries if: The physical location of the school where they attend classes is within the boundaries established by the local league. Note: This excludes home schools, cyber schools, sports-related schools, sports academies, or preschool or after school where a student participates outside of the primary school the player is enrolled.

“School attendance” refers to the (place) physical location the player in question attends school during the traditional academic year. Once established, a location of school attendance shall not be considered changed unless the child is enrolled and attends another school or is no longer enrolled in the previous school.

School attendance shall be established and supported by a document indicating enrollment for the current academic year, dated prior to October 1 of the current year and with the physical location of the school, from ONE of the following categories to determine school attendance by such player:

Ages 13-14 Juniors Baseball Spring 2020

Juniors Baseball Age: 13-14 years old 

The Junior League Baseball Division is a program for boys ages 13–14, using a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet 6 inches. Scores and standings are kept. Tryouts could be required for this division and players could be placed on teams via the draft process depending on the enrollment numbers for a particular season. This division typically starts later than the younger divisions.

Tryouts are required for this division and players are placed on teams via a draft process. Personal requests to play with friends, etc. will not be honored at this level.

Registration is open to residents in Northern San Antonio, Bulverde, Spring Branch and Canyon Lake areas. Approved boundaries include residents who feed into the following elementary schools.

- Bill Brown Elementary - Indian Springs Elementary - Johnson Ranch Elementary - Kinder Ranch Elementary ​ - Rahe Bulverde Elementary - ​Arlon Seay Elementary ​- ​Specht Elementary - Timberwood Park Elementary ​ - all schools located in the Blanco ISD
